Destination Baby Co. 2nd Annual Holiday Drive: A Season of Giving and Impact

Updated: Dec 23, 2024

This holiday season, Destination Baby Co. partnered with an incredible network of businesses and nonprofits to make a meaningful impact through our 2nd Annual Holiday Drive. From November 8th to December 8th, we united the San Diego community to donate new and used toys, books, clothes, and essential items for families in need. Thanks to the dedication of our 36 drop-off partners and the generosity of countless individuals, this drive surpassed all expectations and created a ripple effect of holiday giving and support.

This year, our goal was ambitious yet achievable: to collaborate with 20 locations and collect 1,000 donated items. The results blew us away! With the support of 36 partnered drop-off locations across San Diego County, we received 11,800 donated items that will directly benefit families served by our nonprofit partners:

Recognizing Our Drop-Off Partners

Our incredible drop-off partners transformed the holiday drive from a simple collection effort into a community-wide movement! With their creativity and commitment, they turned their businesses into giving. Some highlights include:

  • Businesses offering discounts and promotions to encourage donations

  • Sharing the drive with their audiences through email and social media

  • Promoting the holiday drive within their buildings, inspiring others to donate

We couldn’t have achieved this success without their passion and support. Each partner played a vital role in amplifying our impact and making this holiday drive a community-wide effort. Big thank you to all our drop-off location partners!

This effort even garnered media attention, including a feature on FOX5 San Diego and mentions on platforms like THERESanDiego.

By the Numbers

Together, we made a tangible impact. Here’s what we accomplished:

  • Over 11,800 items donated, including:

    • 5,571 Used Baby & Children's to Birthline

    • 1,091 Toys (New & Used) to RMHCSD and Birthline

    • 770 Diapers to RMHCSD

    • 528 Baby & Children's Winter coats, jackets, and sweaters to Birthline

Delivering these donations was a community effort in itself! On December 10th, our team members filled two SUVs and delivered more than 8 full bins of new toys, books, and essential items to the RMHCSD. The RMHCSD team was overjoyed to receive the items, ensuring that families staying there during the holidays felt cared for and supported.

A week later, on December 17th, our team joined six Birthline volunteers to transport a box truck full of new and used donations to Birthline's storage facility. These donations will go a long way in supporting pregnant women and families in need, providing them with resources beyond the holidays!

Our co-founder, Josh Plummer, collaborated with Paulette Bohrer, Development Manager at Birthline to record a special video announcing the total number of donations and offering a glimpse into the profound impact this holiday drive has on the families they serve.
